EX-IM BANK NAMES 2000 ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Export Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) today announced the members of its 2000 Advisory Committee, which will be chaired by Owen E. Herrnstadt, director-international affairs, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. It is the first time a representative of the labor sector will chair the committee. Now in its 17th year, the Congressionally-mandated Advisory Committee helps Ex-Im Bank formulate policies and programs by providing input from various sectors of the economy. The Committee's first meeting will take place Monday, March 27, 2000 at 9:30 a.m.
The Advisory Committee meets four times yearly (the other three meetings this year are June 15, September 20 and December 13) to examine Ex-Im Bank's programs and make recommendations for enhancing service and outreach. The theme of this year's meetings is a broad exploration of the changing world of global export finance and Ex-Im Bank's role in it.

Ex-Im Bank is an independent U.S. government agency that assists in financing the export of US goods and services to developing markets around the world by providing loans, guarantees and export credit insurance. Worldwide in fiscal year 1999, Ex-Im Bank supported nearly $17 billion of US exports.
