PETER SABA NAMED EX-IM BANK GENERAL COUNSEL
Peter B. Saba, an attorney with extensive international experience in the public and private sectors, has been named General Counsel of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank), Ex-Im Bank Chairman John E. Robson, announced Tuesday. Saba's appointment becomes effective June 6.
Saba is currently in private law practice with the firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in Washington, D.C., where he specializes in international infrastructure project development and financing, and other aspects of international trade, investment and finance.
From 1989-1993, he served at the U.S. Energy Department as principal deputy assistant secretary in the Office of Domestic and International Energy Policy, and special assistant to the deputy secretary.
Peter Saba's expertise in international trade and energy issues gained through both government and private sector service will be invaluable to Ex-Im Bank's mission of supporting U.S. exports and U.S. jobs, Robson said.
Saba is an honors graduate of the University of Virginia and Harvard Law School.
Ex-Im Bank is an independent U.S. government agency that helps finance the sale of U.S. exports primarily to emerging markets throughout the world, by providing loans, guarantees, and insurance. Ex-Im Bank supported $15.5 billion in U.S. exports in fiscal year 2000.
