Darren Death serves as the Chief Information Security Officer, Chief Privacy Officer, and Deputy Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer at the Export-Import Bank of the United States. In this role, he leads enterprise efforts to secure information systems, protect privacy, and govern the responsible use of AI in alignment with federal mandates and mission-driven priorities.

A seasoned technology leader with over 20 years of experience designing and securing enterprise IT systems, Dr. Death has delivered complex, high-impact technology solutions across both public and private sectors. Prior to joining EXIM, he served as the Chief Information Security Officer for ASRC Federal, where he directed the cybersecurity program across a broad portfolio of federal contracts and subsidiary companies.

Earlier in his federal career, Dr. Death served in senior cybersecurity roles across multiple agencies. At the Department of Justice, he led enterprise security architecture, IT architecture, and program management efforts in support of mission-critical law enforcement and litigation systems. He later served as the Enterprise Information Security Architect at the Library of Congress, where he was responsible for governance, compliance, technical security architecture, and security testing. Following that, he was appointed Deputy Chief Information Security Officer at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), where he supported the agency’s cybersecurity program and the protection of national emergency response systems.

Dr. Death holds a Doctor of Information Technology (DIT) with a specialization in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance. He remains actively engaged in the cybersecurity community through his leadership and advisory roles with the Advanced Technology Academic Research Center (ATARC), the Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology (ICIT), ACT-IAC’s Cybersecurity Community of Interest, and the Cybersecurity Association of Maryland, Inc. (CAMI).
