Export-Import Bank of the U.S. Chair Lewis Expands Nuclear and Clean Energy Partnerships in London

Washington, D.C. – Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis travelled to London, United Kingdom this week to hold a series of meetings with private sector leaders and government representatives to underscore EXIM’s commitment to expanding commercial ties in support of nuclear and clean energy exports.

“It was a pleasure to travel to London to highlight EXIM’s commitment to working with our partners to support nuclear energy and the global energy transition,” said Chair Lewis. “We are eager to expand our commercial ties and continue putting our expertise in the energy sector to work to support nuclear and clean energy exporters.”

On Monday, EXIM attended the EarthShot Prize to discuss how EXIM’s financing solutions can be deployed for businesses supporting the global energy transition. Chair Lewis then participated in a roundtable discussion hosted by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Nuclear Energy with Josh MacAlister, Member of Parliament and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Nuclear Energy; Members of Parliament Lizzie Collinge, Alan Gemmell, Jack Abbott, Jess Asato, Gregor Poynton; and Members of the House of Lords Baron Naseby and Viscount Hanworth. During the discussion, Chair Lewis underscored EXIM’s commitment to supporting nuclear energy exporters and highlighted the agency’s financing tools that can support projects throughout their lifetime.

On Tuesday, Chair Lewis held several meetings with private sector leaders to emphasize EXIM’s commitment to advancing clean and renewable energy, and underscore how the agency’s financing capabilities can support these projects. As part of these meetings, Chair Lewis met with Michael Bloomberg to discuss EXIM’s work in the green energy sector. Chair Lewis then participated in a fireside chat hosted by BloombergNEF on championing black representation in finance, energy, and technology. During the discussion, she highlighted EXIM’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Chair Lewis then participated in a larger panel discussion where she highlighted how EXIM’s Make More in America and the China and Transformational Exports Programs help U.S. companies stay competitive in the energy sector.
