WASHINGTON, DC – The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) hosted its final joint meeting with the 2023-2024 Advisory Committee, Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Committee and the Councils on Climate, China Competition, Small Business and Advancing Women in Business.

A kickoff for the Bank’s 2024 Annual Conference, the meeting was held at the Washington Hilton and opened with remarks from EXIM President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis. During her remarks, Chair Lewis expressed her and the Board of Directors’ gratitude for the insight and recommendations generated from the work the committees and councils do and the impact it has on EXIM’s ability to advance its mission of supporting American exports.

Following the Chair’s remarks, Advisory Committee Chair Senator Heidi Heitkamp and Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Committee Chair Jude Kearney delivered introductory remarks. The meeting then saw presentations from EXIM staff and an overview of council recommendations, which were conducted by council chairs and members.

These presentations were followed by a brief question and answer discussion before being adjourned by Sen. Heitkamp.

“I am pleased to host this final joint meeting of our 2023-2024 advisory committees and councils, especially as we continue our commemoration of EXIM’s 90th anniversary,” said Chair Lewis. “This joint meeting always feels like a fantastic way to kick off our Annual Conference. Bringing together the collective decades of insight and experience of each of these groups is an invaluable aspect of EXIM’s collaboration and coordination with our advisory committees and councils. The recommendations generated by our committees inform the way EXIM functions as we work to align our mission to support and bolster the export of American goods and services with the priorities of the Biden-Harris Administration.”
