Export-Import Bank of the U.S. Director Owen Herrnstadt Joins Commerce Secretary Raimondo, President’s Export Council Mission to Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand – Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) Board Member Owen Herrnstadt traveled to Bangkok, Thailand last week as part of the President's Export Council fact gathering mission, led by Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, to identify export opportunities that support U.S. companies and U.S. workers.

"It was an honor to join Secretary Raimondo and members of the President's Export Council on the visit," said EXIM Director Owen Herrnstadt. "This mission provided a productive opportunity to engage with partners and government leaders about the role EXIM’s financing tools can play in supporting U.S. exporters and U.S. workers, concerning business in Thailand.”

During the visit, Director Herrnstadt met with several government leaders, including Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Phumtham Wechayachai, and U.S. Ambassador to Thailand Robert Godec, where the delegation discussed trade opportunities in clean energy and other sectors. The delegation also held meetings with several business leaders, where Director Herrnstadt highlighted EXIM’s financing tools and discussed how EXIM can help U.S. exporters become more competitive in the region. Director Herrnstadt also visited with the Solidarity Center’s Country Director in Bangkok to learn about labor practices and workers’ rights in Thailand.
