Export-Import Bank of the United States Announces Members of 2022-2023 Advisory Councils
WASHINGTON – The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) today announced the appointment of its newest members to the four subcommittees of EXIM’s Advisory Committee. The subcommittees are the: Council on Climate, Council on China Competition, and two newly formed subcommittees, the Council on Advancing Women in Business, and Council on Small Business.
The councils advise EXIM on its various programs and initiatives as the agency works to advance key Bank and Biden-Harris Administration priorities.
“EXIM’s Advisory Councils are crucial as we continue supporting America’s exporters,” said EXIM President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis. “The advice and recommendations provided from the diverse groups that make up our subcommittees are invaluable as we continue to modernize the Bank. I look forward to working with all of the newly appointed Chairs and committee members as we continue to support Biden-Harris Administration priorities and fulfill our mission of increasing American export competitiveness.”
The Council on China Competition consists of 17 members, with Adm. Gary Roughead (Ret.) returning as Chair. The council provides guidance on advancing comparative leadership of the United States with respect to China and supporting U.S. innovation and employment through competitive export finance.
The Council on Climate is made up of 17 members and will be led by Co-Chairs Rodney Ferguson, President and CEO of Winrock International, and Rachel Kyte, Dean of the Fletcher School at Tufts University. The council helps the agency identify gaps in private-sector financing opportunities and fulfill the mandate from Congress for EXIM to promote and support environmentally beneficial, renewable-energy, energy-efficiency, and energy-storage exports from the United States.
Established by Chair Lewis during Women’s History Month, the Council on Advancing Women in Business has 17 members, with Nicole Elam, President and CEO of the National Bankers Association, and Lezlee Westine, President and CEO of the Personal Care Products Council serving as Co-Chairs. The Council will provide recommendations on ways EXIM can reach more women in business and better consider equity goals set in the agency’s strategy.
Another recently established council, the Council on Small Business, consists of 18 members and will be Co-Chaired by Bob Dreisewerd, President and CEO of Baron Weather, Inc. alongside Nancy Flake Johnson, President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Atlanta. The Council on Small Business will provide recommendations on ways EXIM can help more American small business exporters find new markets, achieve more sales, and lower the risk of selling internationally.
