Export-Import Bank of the United States Director Spencer Bachus Tours North Dakota Manufacturing Facility Alongside North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer
WASHINGTON – Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) Board Director Spencer Bachus toured a North Dakota manufacturing facility today alongside U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND). The two visited Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing (KMM), a manufacturer of electronic components for military and aerospace industries. KMM is an EXIM customer and the sole small business supplier of fiber optic bundles for an aviation manufacturing facility in Wichita. The company has been open since 1987 and employs approximately 460 people across four facilities.
Following the site tour, Sen. Cramer and Director Bachus hosted a roundtable with small businesses from across North Dakota. Director Bachus highlighted EXIM’s efforts to support reshoring U.S. manufacturing jobs through the Make More in America Initiative, a new tool that opens EXIM financing for export-oriented, U.S.-based manufacturing projects. He and Sen. Cramer also outlined the opportunities for North Dakota small businesses to open new markets, grow their sales and strengthen their resiliency by leveraging EXIM programs.
“I thank Senator Cramer for inviting me to Dickinson to discuss the tools EXIM provides for small businesses in North Dakota and around the country. No one has been more supportive of American manufacturing than Sen. Cramer. EXIM is dedicated to providing new opportunities like the Make More in America Initiative to strengthen our domestic workforce,” said Director Bachus. “We know that companies that export are more likely to succeed, and one of our core goals at the Bank is to ensure every company, large and small, has access to our programs. Ultimately, we are committed to doing everything we can to support U.S. jobs and help businesses grow.”
“It was great to host Export-Import Bank Director Bachus in Dickinson today to discuss opportunities to expand exports for North Dakota businesses. The Bank ensures businesses in our state and throughout the country can compete on a level playing field in the global marketplace. They provide critical financing to American exporters to ship our goods, innovation and freedom across the world while supporting small businesses and jobs at home,” said Senator Cramer.
Since 2014, EXIM has supported approximately $35 million in authorizations in North Dakota, 75 percent of which are small businesses.
