Export-Import Bank of the United States President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis Promotes Make More in America at Atlanta Small Business Roundtable, Meeting with Local Officials
WASHINGTON – Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis today met with local officials in Atlanta to promote EXIM’s Make More in America Initiative, a new program designed to help American businesses compete globally.
In the morning, Chair Lewis met with Mayor Andre Dickens’ leadership team. The group discussed the Make More in America Initiative and ways it can assist Georgia exporters looking to build or expand export-oriented manufacturing facilities. Make More in America is a new tool that leverages EXIM’s existing financing capabilities to support goods and services in critical industries being made in the United States. Chair Lewis has prioritized working more closely with state and local officials, and she highlighted the need to form stronger partnerships.
“I am pleased to be back in my home state of Georgia, talking about the Make More in America Initiative and expanding EXIM’s outreach,” said EXIM President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis. “Georgia holds a special place in my heart, and I am dedicated to working with state and local officials to support the small businesses that are the backbone of local communities across this state.”
Following her meeting at the mayor’s office, Chair Lewis participated in a roundtable with Atlanta-area businesses hosted by the Urban League of Greater Atlanta and Invest Atlanta. The discussion centered on ways in which EXIM can better support small, minority- and women-owned businesses. Chair Lewis reemphasized EXIM’s commitment to U.S. small businesses by highlighting EXIM’s recently announced Council on Small Business, which will further facilitate EXIM support for America’s small businesses, and the Council on Advancing Women in Business, which will provide guidance on ways EXIM can expand opportunity for women-owned exporters.
Chair Lewis closed out her visit to Atlanta with a visit to her alma mater, Emory University School of Law to receive the Distinguished Alumni Award.
