WASHINGTON - The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) and the USA Healthcare Alliance (USAHA) yesterday announced a two-year effort to collaborate on educational and other initiatives that increase opportunities for U.S. healthcare companies and healthcare organizations to export their goods and services.

EXIM President and Chairman Kimberly A. Reed and USAHA Chair and Founder Dr. Trevor Gunn signed a memorandum of understanding that was prominently featured (by video) as part of the Indo-Pacific Business Forum, which is being hosted virtually and in-person in Hanoi, Vietnam on October 28-29 by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.

The intent of the MOU is to raise awareness of products and services offered by EXIM and USAHA, as well as conduct trainings to discuss potential opportunities and areas for collaboration.

"I am delighted to join Dr. Gunn and all of the members of the USA Healthcare Alliance as we focus on supporting our great 'Made in the USA' health infrastructure, biomedical science, biotechnology, and other medical-related exports and the American workers who make these transformational products possible," said Chairman Reed.  "It is an honor to make this announcement at the Indo-Pacific Business Forum, as this MOU will allow EXIM and USAHA to pool our resources and leverage our combined abilities to support the export of our high-quality U.S. healthcare goods and services-if they are not in short supply in the United States because of the COVID-19 pandemic-to the Indo-Pacific Region and around the world," said Chairman Reed.

"The world is building healthcare infrastructure at the feverish pace," said Dr. Gunn. "This MOU is an important step to allow the private sector and the government to come together in a collaborative format, supporting the export of U.S. healthcare goods and services. Healthcare has always been a priority sector for EXIM, and this MOU will help healthcare businesses and organizations take full advantage of the resources EXIM has to offer."

The mission of the USA Healthcare Alliance is to expand overseas export opportunities for U.S. companies through identifying, qualifying, and executing health infrastructure projects.
