JOHN A. EMENS NAMED VICE PRESIDENT, EX-IM BANK TRADE FINANCE AND INSURANCE DIVISION
The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) today announced the appointment of John A. Emens as Vice President of Ex-Im Bank's Trade Finance and Insurance Division. The appointment is part of recent overall organizational changes designed to enable the Bank to become more market focused and customer driven. The new Trade Finance & Insurance Division resulted from the merging of the previous Trade Finance and Insurance Buyer Underwriting groups.
John Emens' broad experience in both domestic and international banking, including export finance, will be invaluable as Ex-Im Bank works to enhance customer service by streamlining the process for closing deals, said Jeffrey L. Miller, senior vice president of the Export Finance Group. The Trade Finance and Insurance Division is a part of the Export Finance Group.
I'm looking forward to bringing my experience in relationship management to Ex-Im Bank to make the recent reorganization a success, Emens said.
The new division will provide relationship management and one-stop shopping, from application to delivery, for a number of Bank products including: (i) all of the Bank's medium-term products, including loans, insurance and guarantees; (ii) all short-term single-buyer products; (iii) all sovereign transactions (except for aircraft); and (iv) all transactions involving financial institutions as guarantors.
Emens comes to Ex-Im Bank from Allfirst Bank, Baltimore, MD, where he was executive vice president, head of the Large Corporate/Special Industries Group, and chairman of the company's Greater Washington Region. He was responsible for management of the international division, including export finance. During his career with Allfirst, Emens has managed middle market lending and ran the London office and European Division.
Emens holds a B.A. in history from McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College) and is a graduate of the Leadership Program of the Greater Baltimore Committee. He is a retired Army captain who served in Vietnam and received both the Silver and Bronze Star.
Ex-Im Bank is an independent federal government agency that helps finance the sale of U.S. exports, primarily to emerging markets, by providing loans, guarantees, and export credit insurance. In fiscal year 2002, Ex-Im Bank authorized financing to support approximately $13 billion in U.S. exports worldwide.
