Revving Up American Manufacturing: EXIM Financing to Support Buell Motorcycles’
Washington, D.C. – The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) has approved a direct loan of nearly $10 million to Buell Motor Holdings, Inc. to support the company’s manufacturing operations in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The financing is expected to create 244 full-time jobs and will be used for equipment, tooling, and facility improvements to scale production of Buell’s Super Cruiser and Super Touring motorcycle models.
The financing will support the revival of manufacturing operations in Grand Rapids, positioning Buell to compete globally while reestablishing a storied American brand in a region long impacted by deindustrialization.
This approval was made under EXIM’s Make More in America initiative (MMIA), which was designed to strengthen domestic manufacturing, support job creation, and enhance U.S. export competitiveness. EXIM’s financing will also support building improvements at Buell’s Michigan facility and lay the groundwork for future motorcycle models planned for 2026 and 2027.
This transaction underscores EXIM’s role as a frontline economic tool in revitalizing American manufacturing, strengthening industrial communities, and ensuring U.S. companies can compete and win in global markets.
