Readout from Chairman Reed's Meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Morocco David T. Fischer

Washington, D.C. - President and Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) Kimberly A. Reed met today with U.S. Ambassador to Morocco David T. Fischer to discuss how EXIM can help American businesses export their 'Made in the U.S.A.' goods and services to Morocco.

During the meeting, Chairman Reed and Ambassador Fischer discussed how EXIM can advance projects in Morocco to support the Trump Administration's Prosper Africa and the President's Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa (PAC-DBIA)  initiatives. Prosper Africa is a whole-of-government initiative designed to boost trade and investment between the United States and Africa. Chairman Reed and Ambassador Fischer also discussed EXIM's recent historic seven-year reauthorization, which directs EXIM to establish a new "Program on China and Transformational Exports" to advance the comparative leadership of the United States through direct exports to countries around the world in the following key areas:

  1. artificial intelligence;
  2. biotechnology;
  3. biomedical sciences;
  4. wireless communications equipment (including 5G or subsequent wireless technologies);
  5. quantum computing;
  6. renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy storage;
  7. semiconductor and semiconductor machinery manufacturing;
  8. emerging financial technologies, including technologies that facilitate (a) financial inclusion through increased access to capital and financial services, (b) data security and privacy, (c) payments, the transfer of funds, and associated messaging services and (d) efforts to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism;
  9. water treatment and sanitation, including technologies and infrastructure to reduce contaminants and improve water quality;
  10. high performance computing; and
  11. associated services necessary for use of any of the foregoing exports

Chairman Reed addressed the Heads of Mission from the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs last week, discussing how EXIM products and services can support 'Made in the U.S.A.' exports to the region.
