EXIM Signs $750 Million Memorandum of Understanding with the Republic of Indonesia's Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Planning

MOU Promotes U.S. Exports in Information and Communications Technology, Energy, Infrastructure, Health Care, and Other Critical Sectors; Minister Luhut joins Chairman Reed and Ambassador Lutfi for Ceremony at Indonesian Embassy in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON - The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) President and Chairman Kimberly A. Reed today signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Republic of Indonesia's Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Planning aimed at enhancing trade and economic opportunities between the two countries.

Chairman Reed and Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Muhammad Lutfi signed the agreement at a ceremony at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Washington, D.C. Republic of Indonesia Coordinating Minister for Maritime and International Investment Affairs Luhut B. Pandjaitan also took part in the event.

The MOU is an outcome of Chairman Reed and Minister Luhut's previous discussions which took place in Jakarta in October.

Under the MOU, EXIM and Indonesia agree to explore and identify potential opportunities for EXIM financing in a total aggregate amount of up to $750 million, which include, but are not limited to, opportunities in infrastructure, railway and road transportation, energy (including renewable energy), mining supply chain infrastructure, environmental projects, communications, information and communications technology, broadcasting, weather and climate monitoring, safety and security, health care, and geospatial information.

"This MOU affirms EXIM's commitment to diverse potential projects in Indonesia, including in information and communications technologies, energy, and infrastructure," said Chairman Reed. "I was extremely honored to have Minister Luhut join Ambassador Lufti and me for the signing ceremony today in Washington. We had very productive conversations last month in Jakarta and today's action builds upon those efforts and memorializes our commitment to enhancing the economic cooperation between our two countries. I look forward to an even more fruitful friendship between America and Indonesia as the Indonesian people gain greater access to more high-quality 'Made in the USA' goods and services."
