EXIM Announces Project Vault as Deal of the Year, Advancing U.S. Critical Minerals Security and Industrial Strength
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) announced Project Vault as its Deal of the Year at this year’s Annual Conference, recognizing a landmark transaction that strengthens U.S. supply chain resilience and positions American industry to compete more effectively in a rapidly shifting global landscape.
Approved by EXIM Board of Directors in February, Project Vault is a first-of-its-kind public-private partnership to establish a U.S. Strategic Critical Minerals Reserve, an independently governed public‑private partnership that will store essential raw materials in facilities across the United States. The transaction includes a direct loan of up to $10 billion and brings together leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) alongside key suppliers to align critical segments of the supply chain under a single structure.
"Project Vault is exactly the kind of transaction EXIM was built to deliver,” said EXIM President and Chairman John Jovanovic. “One that revitalizes America's industrial base, strengthens our supply chains, and ensures U.S. manufacturers have the critical inputs they need to compete on a global stage, all while delivering an expected positive return for American taxpayers. In today's environment, securing access to critical raw materials is a strategic imperative, and this deal shows we're treating it as one."
The transaction underscores EXIM’s role in leveling the playing field for U.S. companies competing against foreign rivals backed by aggressive state support. By anchoring critical supply chains at home and strengthening key industrial sectors, Project Vault enhances the global competitiveness of American manufacturers and reinforces long-term economic resilience.
