Export-Import Bank of the U.S. Awarded the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities Outstanding Public Sector Award
Washington, D.C. – The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) received the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Outstanding Public Sector Award this weekend during their annual conference on November 3. Special Assistant to the EXIM President and Chair, Laly Rivera Perez, accepted the award in person on behalf of EXIM Chair Reta Jo Lewis. This award marks an historic milestone in the partnership between EXIM and HACU as well as the agency’s commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment.
“I am delighted to accept the HACU Outstanding Public Sector Award on behalf of Chair Lewis for EXIM’s efforts to increase internship opportunities for HACU students in the public sector,” said Special Assistant Rivera Perez. “EXIM is proud to partner with HACU to create paid educational opportunities at EXIM for students at HACU-member institutions and we are committed to furthering the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.”
Chair Lewis signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between EXIM and HACU in 2022. Since then, EXIM has increased the number of HACU internships from four to 28 this year. Interns are represented from across the United States, from universities in California, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and Texas. Intern cohorts with EXIM have also been increasingly diverse, with 67 percent of interns being women and a variety of majors and class standings being represented.
