Export-Import Bank of the U.S. First Vice President and Vice Chair Judith Pryor Delivers Keynote Address at Indo-Pacific Business Forum in Manila
Manila, Philippines – Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) First Vice President and Vice Chair Judith Pryor traveled to the Philippines last week as part of a U.S. trade mission, led by U.S. Trade and Development Agency Director Enoh Ebong, to the 2024 Indo-Pacific Business Forum. While in Manila, Vice Chair Pryor met with government leaders and private sector companies to discuss the role EXIM financing can play in supporting economic collaboration between the U.S. and countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
“It was an honor to travel to Manila to underscore EXIM’s commitment to supporting U.S. exports to the Philippines and the Indo-Pacific region,” said Vice Chair Pryor. “EXIM’s financing tools play a critical role in supporting key sectors including information and communications technology infrastructure. We are eager to continue our strong work in the region and support the U.S.-Indo Pacific commercial relationship.
Last Monday, Vice Chair Pryor participated in a roundtable discussion on information and communication technology (ICT) alongside Director Ebong and private sector representatives. The discussion focused on the current state of the connectivity sector in the Philippines and how U.S. government tools can support those needs. Vice Chair Pryor then attended a series of meetings, including with the Asia Development Bank and Secretary of the Department of Transportation of the Philippines Jaime Bautista, where she spoke about EXIM’s variety of financing tools to support U.S. exporters and their customers abroad.
On Tuesday, Vice Chair Pryor delivered keynote remarks at the Indo-Pacific Business Forum, where she highlighted EXIM’s role in infrastructure development finance in emerging Indo-Pacific economies and underscored how EXIM’s domestic finance initiative, Make More in America, fosters closer cooperation on infrastructure development in the region.
On Wednesday, Vice Chair Pryor participated in a meeting with representatives from the Philippines Ministry of Finance. She concluded her visit by delivering remarks at a meeting with members of AmCham Philippines, where she underscored EXIM’s commitment to supporting U.S. exports to the region.
