EXIM Interim President and Chair Spencer Bachus III Hosts Queensland Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Discusses Importance of Critical Minerals
Washington, D.C. – Interim President and Chair of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) Spencer Bachus today hosted a delegation from Queensland, Australia. The delegation, led by the Honorable Dale Last, Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional Development also included industry leaders and other senior government officials.
During the meeting, Interim Chair Bachus outlined EXIM’s China and Transformational Exports Program (CTEP), which is focused on supporting U.S. companies competing with the People’s Republic of China (PRC), and how it can be leveraged to further facilitate financing for key sectors such as critical minerals. He also reaffirmed the shared EXIM and Trump Administration priorities, including ensuring America’s energy dominance and supporting job creation.
Continuing the collaborative discussion, both parties emphasized their eagerness to engage in the critical minerals sector, with the Queensland delegation highlighting their strategic mineral deposits including tungsten, gallium and germanium. Australia, together with the United States, can support the strengthening of U.S. supply chains in an effort to increase American exporting competitiveness with the PRC. The meeting highlighted the strong partnership between the two nations, focusing on their efforts to fortify the economic and national security for both countries.
