Edward Newburn
White House Liaison and Senior Advisor for Operations | EXIM
Edward will serve as White House Liaison and Senior Advisor for Operations in the Front Office. He is rejoining EXIM after serving as Senior Advisor to former Chair Kimberly Reed. Prior to re-joining EXIM, Edward helped establish South Dakota Trade, where he served as the Chief of Staff, assisting small- and medium-sized businesses navigate international trade.
Edward began his career in commercial and corporate banking at First Union National Bank (now Wells Fargo) and The Industrial Bank of Japan, Ltd. (now Mizuho Bank Ltd.). After earning his graduate degree from USC, he worked in the Emerging Markets Group at Arthur Andersen LLP, working on finance-related projects in numerous developing countries. Later, he became Chief of Staff and Senior Vice President of International Affairs at AARP, the world’s largest non-profit organization.
In 2020, Edward received the EXIM Distinguished Service Award, the highest staff award EXIM offers. He is also an active volunteer with the Army Distaff Foundation and District of Columbia Public Schools. He holds a B.S. degree in finance from Clemson University, and an International MBA from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. He also has a Graduate Certificate in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University in Arlington, Virginia.
